ASTM A335 steel pipes may be hot-finished or cold-drawn and undergo the following finishing heat treatment. The specification covers “chromium-molybdenum” seamless pipes with excellent corrosion resistance and high-temperature tensile strength.
Carbon Steel: Properties, Production, Examples and Applications Carbon steel is an iron-carbon alloy containing up to 2.1 wt.% carbon. For carbon steels, there is no minimum specified content of other alloying elements; however, they often contain manganese. The maximum content of manganese, silicon and copper should be less than 1.65 wt.%, 0.6 wt.% and 0.6 wt.%, respectively.

| ASTM A335 pipe is a seamless ferritic alloy steel pipe designed for high-temperature service. Pipes conforming to this specification are suitable for bending, flanging and similar forming operations, as well as for fusion welding. Generally, ASTM A335 P11, P22 and P91 pipelines are used in power generation and downstream oil and gas applications, whilst the P5 and P9 grades are used in refinery applications. A335 steel pipes not only possess high resistance to oxidation and high-temperature steam corrosion, but also exhibit good impact toughness, stable and durable plasticity, and thermal strength.
